Definition and History of G.B.C:

G.B.C is a 100% Black-owned entity and by definition G.B.C is an S.M.M.E with a Proven Track Record of Efficient and Quality Product and Service delivery for years.Prior to its achieving its Stellar record, Mr Edwin Mollegai, had a long journey before he started G.B.C. In 1975 Mollegai signed a 5-year apprenticeship contract with Murray & Roberts where he got on the job practical training while doing his building theory at South West Africa Technical College in Windhoek. Thereafter he worked for two years until 1982. Mollegai then utilized his skills and started as a Sub-Contractor in 1982 to various White-owned developing companies such as: Murray & Roberts, LTA, Grinaker, Time Housing, and Basil Reed. As a sub-contractor Mollegai facilitated the entire process of building a house from setting out the foundation right up to the fitting of the roof.

After a lot of persisting and persevering, Mr Mollegai could incorporate and register Guideline Building Contractors (G.B.C) as a Close Corporation in 1989. G.B.C‘s limited property development started hereafter on a much smaller than anticipated scale because of the dependency on what White owned developers offered which was between 10 to 50 houses at a time. G.B.C to date now manages and facilitates multiple construction and project GBC owned sites.

G.B.C‘s Output

For over 25 years G.B.C has provided training and employment opportunities for persons in our local communities, some of our trainees have become successful developers in their own right.

G.B.C continuously produce great:
a) Bricklayers
b) Roof fitting Carpenters
c) Ceiling Carpenters
d) Plumbers
e) Plasterers
f) Painters
g) Electrician
h) Tilers
i) Cabinet makers

G.B.C manufactures its own steel window & door-frames. Through this manufacturing process G.B.C also transfers skills in Boiler Making and Welding fields. G.B.C would like to continue training youth if it can partner with Government and obtain enough land & stands which will yield work for at least five to ten years to maintain full apprentice programs. This will be strictly for previously disadvantaged South African youth to whom G.B.C will pay wages as well as their college tuition fees for three years to do theory while doing their practical work onsite with G.B.C. Thereafter these apprentices will write their trade tests at Olifantsfontein to give them international acceptance as artisans & journeymen

G.B.C ‘s Project Experience:

  • Constructing of Single and Double Storey Dwellings, Factories and Shop Building Projects in Soweto, Pimville, Diepkloof, Protea North, Eldorado Park, Ennerdale, Lenasia & Naturena areas. Building units in the Single and Double Storey developments prices ranged between R680,000.00 and R 1, 8 million in Kyalami Estates, Sagewood, and Midrand areas.
  • Partnered with the Government on all levels to eradicate the housing backlog by providing quality dwellings, while economically empowering the local communities by supporting community development initiatives, especially in the field of skills development.
  • Involved in the transference of skills to youth in these essential sectors of our economy through apprenticeship programs, while eliminating the need for crime to survive, at the same time converting the open fields used for crime into residences.

G.B.C is directly involved in these distinct activities:
1. Architectural , House Plan Design & Plan Approval.
2. Residential & Commercial Construction.
3. House and Building Extensions & Renovations
